Choice $1695 New August 18! Steely Reflective Luster, Wicked Nice Eye Appeal, CAC Approval. Ex. Evergreen and Sooner Collections. A thoroughly pleasing 1857 Flying Eagle strike that presents sharp steely fields with substantial reflectance. Surfaces are unabraded with a hint of obverse verdigris at the legend and date punch. Reverse strike is weak at the upper right wreath. Overall, the eye appeal is wicked nice and certain to please the advanced collector. Recently upgraded by the Sooner Collection and back on the price list. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.1 (2020-2022) holder with CAC approval.

J-193 Choice $2500 New August 18! 1858 Pattern Flying Eagle Cent. J-193. Ex. Humphreys Collection. The obverse is the regular-issue Small Letters 1858 cent. The reverse resembles the as-issued 1860 Indian cent with an oak wreath and ONE CENT with a shield at the top, but the shield is much broader and ornamental. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. Excellent eye appeal despite a fair number of hairlines and a few spots. The mirrors are strong and the red mauve toning is very pretty. Housed in a PCGS Gen. 3.0 holder (Jan 1990 - Feb 1993).

New August 18! 1858 Circulated Pattern; J-203. Ex. Humphreys Collection. This near gem example of this relatively common pattern displays light even wear over original light brown surfaces. The obverse has a hooked-neck eagle flying left with tall wings. The reverse is similar to that of the issued 1860 cent but there is no shield at 12 o'clock. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge.

Gem $1950 New August 19! Well Struck with Excellent Original Luster. Ex. Evergreen. Dazzling original luster excites the eyes on this well struck example. There are no noticeable marks. The PCGS label says this is a Small Letters variety. There is also an Eagle Eye sticker and a Snow-13 designation which is a Large Letter variety which looks to be incorrect as it is a Small Letters variety.
Indian Head

42613556
J-208 Choice $2000 New August 18! 1858 Pattern Indian Cent. J-208, Pollock-259. Copper-Nickel. Plain Edge. Ex. Humphreys Collecton. This is a transitional issue pattern where the obv. is the Indian motif as adopted in 1859, here dated 1858, the point of Liberty's bust rounded. The reverse is the regular issue design of 1859. Attractive proof surfaces. This die combination is a particularly important transitional issue and is an excellent book end for any collector of regular Indian cents. Only a few hundred are known. It has exactly the same status as an 1856 Flying Eagle cent: regular design one year early. The 1856 is famous, though curiously, the 1858 is not.

Choice $1095 Great Color, Clean Surfaces. This is an eye appealing example of the first year of the Indian cent type. Excellent red orange color with nice luster. A few small specks keeps this from a gem rating.

47642827
S-7 Choice $1350 Eagle Eye. Beautfully Struck and Highly Lusterous. The Snow-7 variety is a repunched date with the 8 repunched. This highly lustrous well struck coin produced during the Ciivil War has garnered Eagle Eye approval and has nice eye appeal. There are no noticeable marks on either side. There are more small flecks on the obverse than on the reverse which is likely why it did not receive CAC endorsement..

J-404 Cleaned $1400 New August 18! 1865 Copper Nickel Pattern, J-404. Ex. Humphreys Collection. J-404 is anexperimental Indian Head cent struck using regular-issue dies on a copper-nickel planchet. While regular 1865 cents were transitioned to bronze, Judd-404 pieces maintained the older copper-nickel composition. This coin retains and attractive appearance despite being cleaned.

Choice $5450 Almost Fully Red. This nicely struck proof displays attractive color. The obverse is mostly red with deeper magenta color on the left which likely prevented the coin from being designated as fully red. The right obverse is flashy with orange color mellowing to yellowish green towards the rim. The reverse is fully red. None of the small specks are distracting.
