New May 14! Beautifully Original; Cool Variety with Die Break. Another recent purchase from the CSNS show that we had to buy. This first year of issue is perfect for the grade with super slate blue toning and an absence of marks. New May 22! Beautifully Original, Light Wear for Grade. This is a very high quality example of the challenging 1840 with Drapery dime. Late in 1840 saw a transition to the new With Drapery Sully/Gobrecht design from the previous no drapery design. Few of the new design type were saved making the 1840 Drapery design very scarce in XF grades and higher. Only 31 stickered/5 CACG graded in all grades. Coin has grey toning with a bit of crust.

With Drapery. Choice Original Surfaces.. This is a perfect circulated example of the scarce with drapery variety. During 1840, Liberty Seated dime coinage transitioned from the No Drapery design hub to a revised obverse design that added a more upright seated lady Liberty and bold stars along with drapery under Libertys arm. Only a small fraction of 1840 dimes used the with drapery design. The present coin has iridescent grey toning on both sides along with smooth surfaces and perfect rims.
