Pricing Comments:Liberty Seated quarters are probably the most under valued seated coinage denomination. The full date and mintmark set is extremely difficult to complete due to length and individual date rarities. Weak strikes are also an ongoing issue for many dates including weak head and breast details and incomplete definition of reverse feathers. You will find competitive retail asking prices for nice original and problem free coins. Quarters with small issues will be discounted accordingly.

Rotated Reverses:Reverse images are best effort to capture the actual reverse rotation with respect to obverse position. If a rotated reverse is seen in the images, then this is how the quarter appeared during photography and the descriptions may not include specific comments as to the observation.

New March 24! Surprisingly Tough to Find with CAC. The 1840 with drapery quarter is difficult to find nice with just 24 examples endorsed by CAC which compares to a number of the more recognized scarcer dates. Strictly original with light grey surfaces. There are some small scattered marks on the obverse that are well toned over. This coin was traded for another coin at Batlimore and is now available to our Seated quarter collectors looking to add this difficult piece.

New March 19! Fantastic Color and Eye Appeal of this Scarcer Date. It will be very difficult to find a more eye appealing 1841 quarter. Just 120,000 were minted . The obverse displays a rainbow of colors and tremendous eye appeal. The reverse is blue with magenta color with splashes of yellow orange. Both sides have excellent luster and fewer marks than expected for the MS62 grade. The reverse shows some weakness of strike on the left facing eagle leg and arrow fletching.

Briggs 3-F Choice $1500 Large O, Choice Original, Scarce Die Variety, Crusty Gray Patina, Accurately Graded. Listed separately by Briggs as 3-F and the lone 1843 reverse die with a Large O mintmark. Later captured by the Cherrypickers Guide and listed as FS-501. Always found in lower circulated grades with the finest PCGS holdered being an AU53 example. This Fine 15 example is noteworthy for its strict originality and choice surfaces. Crusty gray patina covers both sides. CAC approval is absolutely warranted due to originality and accurate grading. Overall, an essentially unimprovable example for the collector wishing to fill the #5 spot, in a Top 25 Varieties set. Housed in a PCGS Gen 5.0 Dupont hologram holder with CAC approval. The PCGS label reads, "Large O FS-501 (FS-001.5)".

Briggs 2-C Original $1935 Rare Grade, Bold Strike, Steely Surfaces, Golden Patina, Lasalle Collection. 2025 Black Friday Sale Offering - The 1847 New Orleans issue is scarce in all grades and becomes quite rare in AU. This date is notorious for flatly struck stars and the top of Liberty's head according to Briggs. The LaSalle Collection has released an AU50 example which is one of only six certified by PCGS at grade. Steely obverse reflectance is readily apparent under a bright light with golden hues being predominant. Golden-gray toning is noted on the reverse with a bit softer luster. Of importance is the bold strike with all star center points clearly defined along with a fully detailed head. The reverse is equally well struck. Briggs 2-C discovered by Larry Briggs May 1987 and remaining as a very rare die pairing. Astute Seated collectors should be paying close attention to this offering. Housed in a PCGS Gen 6.0 (2015-2020) holder.

New February 25! Original Coin of an Underappreciated Date. With a mintage of just 190,800, this date is tougher to find than one would expect for a Philadelphia date. This example is an original example with scattered marks on the fields on both sides. The detail is perfect for an XF45. Under a light, traces of yellow, blue, and magenta colors can be seen. The are 36 CAC examples in all grades. Formerly from the Iowa Collection.

New March 24! Strictly Original and Smooth for VF30. When the 1853 Arrows quarters with reduced silver content went into circulation, the 1850-1852 quarters with more than a quarter's worth of silver were removed quickly from circulation. Many of these 1850-1852 silver coins were melted which is why these coins are more difficult to find than their mintages would indicate. Original with attractive light grey surfaces. This coin 's surfaces are smooth with no noticeable marks for such a well circulated coin. There is good detail for a VF30 and the reverse likely grades XF40 by itself.

No Arrows, Crusty Gray Patina, Choice Surfaces, West Texas Collection. The 1853 No Arrows date is recognized as one of the Liberty Seated quarter series rarities. Mintage is reported to be 44,200 with two delivers of about equal amounts during February 9 and 17, 1853. As the value of silver bullion exceeded face value, many were immediately exported and melted leading to a rare issue for present day numismatists. PCGS population reports indicate single digit population in most grades with limited auction appearances. This West Texas release is new to GFRC. Both sides features a thick crusty gray patina during in-hand inspection that shifts to delineated rose and blues under a bright light. Surfaces are entirely unabraded with strong rims. Since the L in LIBERTY is missing, this lot is not a CAC candidate. Housed in a PCGS Gen 6.1 (2020-2025) holder.

Briggs 1-D Choice $4850 Brilliant Frosted Luster, Near-Gem Original, CAC Approved. If wishing to add some "spice" in a type set, this near-gem 1854-O quarter should be considered. Additionally, those that enjoy blast white frosted luster should be equally interested. Equally important is a hammered strike with die lines in the reverse being easily noted and designates the variety is Briggs 1-C. Faint and wispy hairlines in the right field preclude a full GFRC-Gem quality rating. The CAC approved lot is one of 33 approved, a small number considering a mintage of 1,484,000. The CAC Price Guide lists $4,400 as fair market value, but we know the guide is conservative for premium Liberty Seated coinage. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.1 (2020-2025) holder with CAC approval.
