Gem $450 New March 26! Unusually Attractive Color and Luster on a Copper Coin. This is a perfect type coin. The beautiful bluish color on both sides sets this coin apart from the vast majority of 2c pieces. This well struck coin has excellent luster and has few marks for an MS64. Within the bluish color, there are faint traces of original red peeking through the toning, most notably on the reverse. This is a very high end MS64BN coin.

A glance at the CAC pop report shows that Liberty half eagles from the Phildelphia mint are significantly underrated compared to their mint marked counterparts. This gorgeous 1871 is one of six AU58 stickered at CAC with none higher. The total CAC pop is only 11. Compare this to the 1871-CC half eagle that has a total CAC pop of 42, but which is priced at more than 7 times as much. This example not only has beatiful color but is minimally marked and has nice luster. A near gem which should be seen to be appreciate.

New March 26! Strictly Original of this Better Date. For the 1838 - 1849 New Orleans dimes, only the 1843-O dime has a lower mintage than the 1845-O. The CAC population of 1845-O dimes in XF and higher is very low with just 8 XF, 3 AU, and 3 in Mint State. This original coin has medium grey surfaces, is well struck with even wear. The 1840 with drapery quarter is difficult to find nice with just 24 examples endorsed by CAC which compares to a number of the more recognized scarcer dates. Strictly original with light grey surfaces. There are some small scattered marks on the obverse that are well toned over. This coin was traded for another coin at Batlimore and is now available to our Seated quarter collectors looking to add this difficult piece.

New March 24! Strictly Original and Smooth for VF30. When the 1853 Arrows quarters with reduced silver content went into circulation, the 1850-1852 quarters with more than a quarter's worth of silver were removed quickly from circulation. Many of these 1850-1852 silver coins were melted which is why these coins are more difficult to find than their mintages would indicate. Original with attractive light grey surfaces. This coin 's surfaces are smooth with no noticeable marks for such a well circulated coin. There is good detail for a VF30 and the reverse likely grades XF40 by itself.

New March 24! Well-Struck Scarce Date. Lustrous with good detail for an XF coin. This coin is well struck with all the obverse stars sharp and good detail displayed on the eagle.There are scattered marks on both sides consistent with the grade. These coins circulated in the burgeoning San Francisco economy due to the Gold Rush as the population exploded from 1,000 in 1848 to 55,000 by 1860. Choice $2900 New March 24! Ex-John McCloskey. Popular scarce O-Mint of the Last Year for Liberty Seated Coinage. From the 1879-1891 late date Seated quarters, the scarcest dates are the 1886 and 1891-O. With a mintage of 68,000, the 1891-O quarter was the first O-Mint quarter produced since 1860. This coin is original light grey and has smooth surfaces with only light marks. Accurately graded with the obverse being closer to VF35 and the reverse VF30. CAC has endorsed 44 examples in all grades with 13 in the VF20-VF35 range. This coin initially sold at the Feb. 2022 Heritage Auction sale for $3,360.

During 1840, Liberty Seated dime coinage transitioned from the No Drapery design hub to a revised obverse design that added a more upright seated lady Liberty and bold stars along with drapery under Libertys arm. Only a small fraction of 1840 dimes used the with drapery design. The present coin has iridescent grey toning on both sides along with smooth surfaces and perfect rims.

The blue color on both sides is extremely vibrant surrounding the magenta centers.The fields have deep mirrors and the strike is hammered. B-23a, BB-105 Choice $7750 New March 19! Original Grey Surfaces. BB-105, B-23a. Rarity-3. Pointed 9, Wide Date. The obverse is medium grey with copper color around the peripheries. The reverse is toned in a rich blend of steel-gray and sandy-gold patina. The few marks are minor and the rims are very clean. This coin has not been cleaned or played with like many certified Bust dollars in the marketplace. In his Encyclopedia of United States Silver Dollars 1794-1804 (a must have for any collector), Bowers describes the obverse of this die variety as [u]sually lightly struck at the centers. While the obverse has the weak strike as noted by Bowers, the coin has only light wear from circulation and the balance of the features have good definition.

Apart from one minor mark on the cheek, this coin has very few marks for the grade and a near absence of lines. It is also well struck apart from slight weakness often found on the 8 in the date. The 1855-o is perhaps the most popular Type II gold dollar since it is the final New Orleans Mint gold dollar. Gem $8500 New March 19! Strong Cameo. An undipped proof with strong cameo on both sides, especially on the reverse which in our opinion boarders on deep cameo. Light toning covers both sides but does not hide the strong mirrors. The hairline free surfaces are surprisingly undisturbed for a 64. We would rather sell this one to a collector rather than a crack out dealer so if you want it please order before Central States. When we saw this coin at the recent March Baltimore show, we knew we had to buy it since we couldnt put it down.

Interestingly, there are only 27 CAC examples of this date in all grades compared to 95 for the 1879 dime where only 14,000 were minted. New March 19! Fantastic Color and Eye Appeal of this Scarcer Date. It will be very difficult to find a more eye appealing 1841 quarter. Just 120,000 were minted . The obverse displays a rainbow of colors and tremendous eye appeal. The reverse is blue with magenta color with splashes of yellow orange. Consignor Price Reduction - The Seated community is well aware of the historical significance of initial San Francisco mint issues as nearly all went into western fronter circulation. Choice survivors are a prize as is the case for this 1856-S survivor from the Lasalle Collection. Worthy of it GFRC-Choice quality rating, this lot presents silver-gray colored surfaces that are undoubtedly original. Further valuation arises from "dirt" with the protected areas. Consignor Price Reduction - 1861 San Francisco Seated quarter offering which brings the distinction of being the key west coast mint date in the series. Mintage is documented at 96,000 units with few saved from California gold mining town commerce. Nearly the entire mintage was placed into circulation and remained there until well worn or lost. This survivor is noteworthy for its limited wear and residual frosted luster under a bright light. Device are bold and well defined for the issue. Light gray toning covers both sides with enhanced ebony on the central reverse. Examining the PCGS population report, this date thins out quickly at the VF35 to EF45 level with few finer. Consignor Price Redution - The 1875-CC issue can be overlooked, standing beside the giants of the 1870-1873 Carson City run. This piece is scarce in its own right with a relatively low mintage of 140,000 pieces, and all Carson City issues have a special appeal within American numismatics. So noted for this new Lasalle Collection consignment. A thick coin gray patina nicely protects the obverse while a light reverse center provides access to the soft frosted luster. New March 19! WB-9. Cool Reverse Die Crack. Blatant Originality. This WB-7 die marriage (R-3) has a die crack from the rim thru (AMERIC)A into the eagles right wing to shield edge. On the obverse, a large rust lump is clearly visible on Libertys right knee. The coin itself is a near-gem toned in golden grey-brown shades with nice luster under the toning. Well struck with excellent detail remaining with only a few minor imperfections. Even collectors who already own a nice CAC 1849-O half and dont do varieties should consider this coin as a bookend for its neat die crack.
